How many credits do I need to complete the Honors Program?
You need 18 Honors credits, plus completion of the required co-curricular activities.
Do Honors courses count toward my graduation?
Yes. All Honors courses fulfill Liberal Arts and Sciences Core requirements, count toward graduation in your major, and remain valid even if you later exit the Honors Program.
What courses are mandatory for all Honors students?
All Honors students must complete:
- LAS498H – Professional Portfolio (0 credits)
- LAS499H – Honors Interdisciplinary Capstone (3 credits)
- LAS211H – Artificial Intelligence (3 credits)
- And you must complete at least three Honors workshops
When do I take the Portfolio and Capstone?
The Portfolio and Capstone are typically completed in the senior year.
What is the Change Makers requirement?
You must complete at least 3 credits from Change Makers designated Honors courses. You may take more, and all count toward the 18 Honors credits.
Can a course count in more than one category?
Yes. Some courses may satisfy multiple requirements. This flexibility is intentional.
Do ENG202H or COM203H count toward Honors?
Yes, if taken as Honors sections. They can count for 0 to 6 Honors credits depending on your major.
What are the co-curricular requirements?
Honors students must complete co-curricular activities including workshops, leadership experiences, and service learning. All activities are documented in the Honors Professional Portfolio (LAS498H).
How many workshops do I need to take?
You must complete at least three Honors workshops from the approved list.
Do workshops count as credits?
No. Workshops are co-curricular requirements and do not carry academic credit.
